"Jaguar"
Watercolor, 15" x 25"      $700

This lady was a real challenge. Only with careful drawing could the markings of her body be reproduced to show depth and contour.  Jaguars are truly majestic cats.

"The Eyes Have It"
 Oil on canvas, 18" x 22"     $600

Egrets in spring plummage are wonderful to observe, especially after the chicks are in their youth.  They have a langauage of the eyes and here you can follow the eyes from mother to chicks.  Maybe they wonder what's for dinner!

"December Dunes"
 Pastel, 13" x 21",              $600

"Margaret Fleming's Chapel"
Pastel, 13" x 15",           $550

History in Clay County must include the Flemings. Margaret longed for a place to worship near home and after the Civil War, she finally realized her dreams, only to have her own funeral take place as the first service.  As an artist, I painted the older image with resurrection fern on the roof and a less orderly grounds with an old fence.  Renovations were necessary, of course, to preserve this wonderful, historic place.

"Watauga Headwarters"
Pastel, 16" x 22",              $950

The Watauga River is not a large body of water, especially where small streams blend to create the major one.  This spot is a perfect example of mountain cool and peacefulness.  The clarity of this stream makes you look for trout and watch the water tumbling past the stones in the river bed.

"Mama Bear"

Camera hunting produced a great shot of Mama in a large white pine.  From her vantage point, she doesn't miss a movement.

"Mists of Autumn"
Pastel,                            Sold

Pastel lends itself well to a subject with mist.  It was a challenge to capture the movement of the water over the rocks and depict the clarity of the water in this mountain stream.

"Indian Maiden"

"Shade"
Oil on Panel, 15 1/2" x 19 1/2",     $600

A Cheyenne native has placed a crown of cottonwood leaves on his head to create shade from the bright sun.  His craggy face and greying hair show years of life experience.  The bright Cadmium red blanket compliments the green leaves.

"The Seed Beater"
pastel, 16" x 22",                       NFS

Toiling in the California sun, this Pomo woman gathers seeds into one of many fine baskets that have become museum examples.  I have been told the seeds could have been placed in small pillows for special dreams or hidden meaning.

"Carters Barn"
Oil, 16" x 20",                 $550

The countryside near Grandfather Community is filled with Christmas tree farms.  We were told about a retired dentist who had this great barn near Crossnore.  In summer Carter displays the American flag over the door and at Christmas, he hangs a big wreath.

Acropolis, Rhodes
pastel, 16 1/2" x 22 1/2", $1,200

Rhodes is a fascinating city in the Greek Isles that is three-in-one.  The modern city is overshadowed by the medieval one and the ancient one.  This Acropolis in the ancient part was filled with bougainvillea and the sun was strong on the courtyard.  It was a perfect example of a Greek city.
